We welcome enquiries about Weddings from couples where at least one partner lives in our parish or is attending St.Edmund's Church and is on the electoral roll. The change in the Marriage Measure from October 2008 allows a couple, where they or their parents have had certain connections with the parish, to be married in the church. To find details of what qualifies as a connection click here.
It's always difficult to know whether to book the church or the reception first but its better to make a provisional booking with us to make sure your desired date is free. We are always taking bookings into the next calendar year but dates can still be available at short notice. We do not normally perform Sunday weddings.
Please leave a message with the Church office.
We will phone you back; explain the process and answer any questions you may have e.g. availability, flowers, cost. Prior to agreeing the booking we must ask a few questions for our records.
Although it is not normally the practice of the Church of England to marry someone who has a living spouse, it is possible that the Vicar may allow such a marriage under the provisions of civil law. All requests are considered carefully and sensitively.
If we feel unable to offer you a Marriage Service we will always discuss the Prayers of Blessing following a Civil marriage which many people find to be a lovely service. You should chat with the Vicar before arranging a date. |
